Designance is the odd newsletter here and there about the principles of design, and finance; it’s design for investors, and investing for designers.

Why should I subscribe?

Designance is for people who work in software and those who invest in it.

If you’re familiar with software – perhaps you’re a product manager, an engineer or designer – but new to investing, my hope is to write about the things that will help you build your own investment thesis and portfolio of shares using the insight you already have.

Each issue explains some aspect behind the research, analysis and design that goes into software development, and explores applying the same principles when investing.

If you’re familiar with investing – perhaps you’re a personal investor, an institutional investor or run a family office – then my hope is to provide you with a clearer understanding of the trends that affect the software and technology market.

What I want to know, and what Designance is about, is which path provides the most efficient return; investing in listed software companies more intelligently, or using the cash to bootstrap one.

Who’s it by?

Designance it written by me, Jonathan Roberts. I’m a designer & researcher who works on new product development and acquisition at Redgate in Cambridge, UK.
